@Rob Murphy: "Teardrops" appears to be pulling a "Before He Cheats" on some Top 40 stations, i.e. very belatedly crossing over to pop while country moves on to other singles by the act. It's been hovering in the lower half of the Top 20 for a couple of months, but this week it's down to No. 22 from No. 16 (it peaked at No. 13 a couple of weeks ago).

It's the highest-charting single Swift has had on the big, all-genre chart, beating "Our Song" (which was a huge country No. 1 and made No. 16 on the Hot 100). Now that both tracks are fading, it looks like the label might try to push "Picture to Burn" at both country and Top 40 simultaneously.

Chris Molanphy

dennisobell, excellent as always.

One question I have, because I don't follow all the charts as closely as you do -- what up with Taylor Swift's "Teardrops On My Guitar"? I've been in the car a lot recently, and I've heard that song on Top 40 raido at least as often as I've heard "Low". I know it's "old", and that may be the problem here, but why isn't it showing up on these charts?

Rob Murphy

Apparently, "Feedback" will be re-pushed at Pop radio, plus there's a SNL appearance on March 15th, so it might actually have a chance of going Top 10 eventually.

I think the best strategy for her is to milk "Feedback" for all its worth and forget about "Rock With U", since radio doesn't seem to want to touch it. When "Feedback" is done, hopefully "Luv" will have peaked at Urban radio and will be ready to cross over to Pop.

I know I said last week that Janet's career was done, but after seeing that if she promotes she gets results, I'm a bit more optimistic about "Discipline"'s chances of at least selling better than "20 Y.O.".

Aleb

Unlike the other R&B/pop artists returning this year and late last year (Alicia, Mary), Usher's new single is a real disappointment.

It's achingly bad. It's like rotten leftovers from the "Confessions" studio.

rhythmchyc

"Feedback" has remained solidly all week in the Itunes top 10, so if there is any delayed interest in radio this week, she *may* have a shot at a top 10 on Hot 100.

But I agree with you, Island needs to really push "Rock With U", the video is much better than "Feedback" and should do well...

HONEYBFLY
