I think he represents a new generation of soft-rock stars (see: Norah Jones) who are fully aware of their own images in the eyes of the general public, but still want to live their day to life as twenty-something hipsters, playing in punk bands and doing parodies of internet shock videos with guys from "Best Week Ever".
