I had to stop the song and let my brain drift through musical history before I could pin down the source. First I thought "Stray Cats?" but the vocals were all wrong. Then I thought "Modern Love" by David Bowie? But the beat was too slow. I got hung up on Huey Lewis and the News for a while, but that was really more of a similar aesthetic sensibility. I knew in my heart that there was one song from my youth, one single moment in time, that spawned the beat. And then, after several hours, it hit me: Part Time Lover!
