I would like to say that, at least in my opinion, not having any desire to be, look or act cool - and even littler desire in actually being so - is the true epitome of cool.

The fact that Steve Albini would be willing to record Limp Bizkit or Mr. Weiland and not care who knew it - or care to explain it too much - and continue to record bands like Pillow Theory in the same breath - makes him pretty effing cool.

@Elijah-M: I'd trust his studio's own the Electrical Audio site before Wikipedia, regardless of how many times I've personally read that quote. That is to say, if I can scrape up a few grand, I'm totally hiring Steve Albini to record my next album.

@nh_dave: You're right in that Albini doesn't get royalties, but his per-day charge is anything but a static flat fee.

Based on the above criteria, I think it's safe to say he'll be getting paid.

Actually I am fairly certain that Albini is unique in that he is a per day producer. He doesn't charge anything more than a day rate, and that doesn't change regardless of who you are.

I personally wish he would just tour with Shellac and give up the whole producer thing LOL

Jesus Christ Scott Weiland is irritating. The worst thing about him is that, if we were to be glass is half full about the six or seven good songs that STP gave us during a DECADE together, they're all pretty much accidental successes by the De Leo's. Maybe I'm just being reactionary about it, but until a month or so ago, I didn't realize people actually missed the Pilots. It's pretty mind blowing.
