But really, I agree that this concept is just about played out. How about going the opposite route and making bands perform their worst albums in their entirety? I think it'd be fun to watch them cringe onstage. Just think of it: Bad Religion Performs Into the Unknown! Ray Davies Presents Think Visual! The Decendants Play Late-Period All!

mike a

A 36 Chambers show would indeed be great - but wasn't GZA supposed to do the same thing with Liquid Swords, and didn't he pretty much drop the whole concept after a few songs? Focus is not one of their 36 chambers, especially live.

mike a

@the rich girls are weeping: I'm sure you're not the only one, but, as noted above, I don't necessarily think its only nostalgia pandering, but simply a cool way to present the music you've recorded. Granted, it becomes a little less unique each time its done, but I think its a great way to hear deeper cuts from an album you love that don't typically get played in concert.

For instance, I've seen The New Pornographers in concert more than a half-dozen times, but have yet to hear Miss Teen Wordpower. I really like that song (I mean, I could be wrong, but aren't they basically making fun of an earnest teenage girl? Bold), but it seems that my only chance to hear it live will be in 2013 when Neko and the rest of gang need/want some cash and decide to play Electronic Version front-to-back. And, god-willing, I'll be there.

That being said, I saw Bright Eyes do it at Coachella a few years ago. Yeah, I should've seen NIN instead.

How do I say this ... THROWDINI!

Guh, am I the only one who doesn't like this trend? Especially now that Guyville has joined the ranks? (Blah, blah, blah -- loved it in college and know much better now.)

I mean, I adore Built to Spill's There's Nothing Wrong With Love, but you sure as hell won't find me at ATP to see them play it in full 10 (omg 15?) years after the fact.

I find this trend, actually, the very worst kind of nostalgic pandering to No. 1 Super Music Nerds. Kinda offensive!

THAT BEING SAID, I would still kill, kill, kill to be at those Sparks shows in London. And come to think of it, I'd probably watch Nick Cave & Co. do whole albums. But that's it! I swear!

the rich girls are weeping

I love this trend. The other day I was thinking about what album I would most like to see performed live, and I settled on Jay-Z and Dangermouse doing The Grey Album. Its probably because the chance of that actually happening is like .000001%, but how fucking cool would that be?

How do I say this ... THROWDINI!
