Being an import singles collector is still a bitch but the recent trend of stores offering bundles is pretty helpful. I buy physical product almost exclusively. The only time I don't is when something is only available as a download. I use eMusic, 7digital, and iTunes sparingly...mostly to get a digital copy of something I've only been able to purchase on vinyl. More companies need to offer downloads with vinyl...seriously.

That being said, the new one is a) produced by rick rubin so it sounds flawless, and b) is full of really solid, moody tracks a la Distorted Lullibies (more than the second).

My biggest complaint is that the lead singer tries to artisticly drop the N word in a spoken word bit, as you know, he's an "artist" and can say that. I'm uncomfortable with him doing that, Marilyn Manson, or Patti Smith even, no matter what valid point they think they're making (but I'm from a really small town where people meant it when they said it, so call me naive.)

If you can get past how serious he takes himself, pick it up.

I will not pay for downloaded music until services provide lossless files for a decent price (I'm looking at you, Boomkat). The only music I download for free are the odds single tracks I find on my weekly blog raids for new music.

I also subscribe to the $9.99 emusic plan.

Plus I get tons of free shit (way too much) because I've been publishing an online music zine since 2001.

I also did a few trades on Zunafish, and downloaded stuff from legitimate payed services (e.g. not AllOfMP3.com) - typically artists I'm not familiar with, or b-sides/compilation tracks.

If there's half a chance I'm going to like the whole album, I want the physical product. I moved away from that way of thinking for a few years after Napster showed up, but I realized that for a litany of reasons, I enjoy it a lot more when I've paid for it and can hold it in my hand.
