I'm sure she's talented as hell, but dear heaven above I hate that song.

Think Hootie, Sister Hazel, Deep Blue Something, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Meredith Brooks. (Dave Matthews is too big for the genre; the Rembrandts are too small.) It was this sort of stopgap pseudo-rock between early-'90s bubblegrunge and late-'90s Lilith, and around 1995-96 I just found it oppressive.
