I was at Woodstock '94, and spent my evenings in a lovely hotel about 10 miles from the site. While others were sleeping in mud and human waste, I was eating prime rib and sleeping on crisp clean white sheets. "Roughing it" is for suckers.

@How do I say this ... THROWDINI!: Oh, there's certainly no appeal to roughing it for me. If I ever head to Coachella again, I'm staying at one of the casinos. Nothing takes the edge off a day in the sun like a few hands of blackjack.

I'll see what I can do about reusing that tag. I appreciate a challenge.

@Dan Gibson: You're probably right, but I say screw "roughing it" or the appearance thereof. I'd rather stay in a place with a pool. Its hot out there and those pre- and post-dips in the pool are very refreshing.

Also, I will be very impressed if you can use the "Let's Skip The Arctic Monkeys And Get The Kids To Bed" tag again. (Yes, that's a challenge.)

I can see Coachella doing this, but I don't know how necessary it is. Palm Springs, with its collection of hotels and seasonal rentals, is close enough that if you don't want to stay in a tent you don't really have to.
