Despite its uneveness, 'gimme more' and 'piece of me' are still two of my favorite singles of the last couple of years, and may even top the knife when it comes to the whole 'drugged out creepily sexual nightmare disco' subgenre. Admittedly, girl needs help, and some friends who arent evil, but she's gotten more great music from her pop courtney love permanent meltdown status than Justin Timberlake ever has (discounting 'cry me a river' perhaps).

What I see is that she cheated on him, and, like, I don't know, every musician ever, he wrote a song about it. (A good song at that.) I don't see how he's in the wrong for that.

If you're making the argument that he kicked it up a notch by putting a Britney doppleganger in the video, I never thought that girl looked much like her, beyond hair color. And if he didn't do that, and say, used a brunette, people would still say "that song's about Britney, he's just trying to hide it through hair color." So really, he can't win there.

I'm not even really taking sides (i.e. that its her fault, so he can do whatever), but I just don't see that he's a jerk here.

Sure, "Hung Up" may have been better, but "4 Minutes" went to number three here and number one in countless other places. For a fifty year-old, it's a pretty damn ubiquitous. I give her props.

Besides, if you take it as merely a pop song that's just trying to get you to shake your ass, it's successful.
