Jay-Z Gets Dissed By MC Hammer In Terrible New Video

A few weeks ago, Jay-Z took a fairly harmless swipe at MC Hammer in the G.O.O.D. Friday jam “So Appalled” (which has also found its way onto Kanye’s album), and how does Hammer — who goes by King Hammer now, apparently — retaliate? By filming a music video depicting Jay being chased by, and then collaborating with, the Devil. Please Hammer, don’t hurt Hova!

Warning: the first 90 seconds is just a badly acted, unnecessary scene at Hammer’s Alchemist Management office. We’re awaiting parody videos to pop up on YouTube any moment now.

MC Hammer – “Better Run Run”

A sample lyric from Hammer’s scathing slam-down: “Devil said, ‘Imma give you the world’ / ‘I’ll take it, plus give me a girl’ / ‘Mr. Devil, can you give me a sign’ / He said, ‘Throw the Roc up, that’s one of mine.'”

We’re a bit confused on two counts. First of all, in the video, the Jay-Z stand-in is being chased by the Devil in the woods, and then later, Lucifer is in the studio with Jay, helping him pen rhymes. So are they in cahoots, or is Jay the Devil’s victim? And secondly, what in the hell was Hammer thinking? We sincerely hope this is a post-Halloween trick, because it certainly is no treat.

Just in case you’re curious as to what Jay rapped in “So Appalled” that inspired this ridiculous beef, it was this: “I lost $30 million so I spent another $30 / ’cause unlike Hammer $30 million can’t hurt me”. The nerve!
