Beyonce’s “Countdown”: At Your Request — Welcome To Our Show

Ask and you shall receive. It’s time for our new At Your Request video project, in which we listen to your submissions and spin one special song each day. We kick off with an Idolator reader who’s crazy in love with Beyonce (join the club) — watch below. Don’t wait to submit your favorite tunes via Twitter (@Idolator, #AtYourRequest) — tomorrow’s episode could be dedicated to you!

Today’s request comes via @kat_george, who let us know (in all-caps, Kanye-style) that she needed to hear any Beyonce song. And since Kat runs the world (at least today), we picked one: our choice is “Countdown” (if only because it has given us our favorite lyric of 2011.) Of course, it’s difficult to cheer the track without facing up to the controversy surrounding its Adria Petty-directed video, which borrows from Anne Teresa DeKeersmaker’s film Rosas danst Rosas. Does “Countdown” add up for you? Watch:

While we’re practicing the shaky-leg dance from “Countdown” in our black turtlenecks, hop on Twitter, Facebook, or comment below with your song suggestions. Just give us an artist, their tune and a little reason why you want us to break it down. We’re at your service.
