A true Fiona Apple fan knows the meaning of patience. Wait and wait and wait and the siren will reward thee. The seven-year hiatus between 2005’s Extraordinary Machine and her upcoming album The Idler Wheel can only be attributed to the fact that that SXSW performer  had no “real plan”, as she honestly admits to NPR:

I know when to stop myself, I know when to start, I know when to leave something alone. I guess I just kind of indulge that completely, and so I just take my time.

We’ve already sampled the optimistic love song  “Anything You Want” and the instantly lovable ballad “Werewolf”, now the “Every Single Night” songstress’ fourth studio LP is available for streaming.

While we recommend you take your time to drink in all 10 emotionally intense tracks, be sure to check out “Valentine”, which picks up after the 1:19 mark into a very When The Pawn-esque sound mixed with weird, twisted musical asides. “Left Alone” will speak to anyone who’s ever asked themselves: “How can I ask anyone to love me / when all I do is beg to be left alone?” “Hot Knife” has the 34-year-old songbird playing around with layers of voices and timpani drum. So put an octopus on your noggin and head to NPR to listen to the full album.

Fiona will be hitting the road starting June 19 are you planning to catch her on her North American tour
