Hours before she took home trophies for Album of the Year and Solo Female at the BRIT Awards, Emeli Sande premiered the US version of her hit European single “Next to Me.” For our American ears, we get the added bonus of Kendrick Lamar, who turns out a pair of short, potent verses. The Compton rapper opens the song ranting about fame, and his gravelly, urgent rhymes fit with the track’s earthy thump. You can hear the reworked cut below.
