Chvrches’ “Recover” Video: When Synth-Pop Goes Sci-Fi
One of the acts we’re most excited to see at South by Southwest next week in Austin is Chvrches. With just a few singles in a few short months, the Scottish synthers have carved out a distinctive, assured sound and their latest effort, “Recover,” showcases their knack for taking a shiny electro intensity and molding it into a singalong, purely pop shape.
The visuals, however, are much more amorphous than the song, featuring slow-sweeping shots of what feels like small-scale leftover settings from Aliens. The trio is nowhere to be found save for a brief appearance via small video screens near the end. Check it out up top.
