“I have not been on tour for a long time, “ Rihanna says, before she stops herself. “A long time for me — so, a little more than a year.” Last night, amidst rumors that she may soon take a year off and before she canceled tonight’s gig in Boston, the Unapologetic star kicked off the U.S. run of her Diamonds tour with a sold-out show inside Buffalo, N.Y.’s First Niagara Center.

While she began the show kneeling on a platform, Rihanna did not stay still for long. “Mother Mary” quickly segued into “Phresh Off the Runway” (a nod to her River Island clothing line, perhaps), which then segued into songs that called for the gyrating she’d perfected at rehearsals, like Talk That Talk cut “Birthday Cake” and Good Girl Gone Bad smash single “Umbrella.”

“Thanks to you guys, it’s all over the radio,” Rihanna said to introduce “Pour It Up” — although, given Spotify’s recent findings, she could have said that of her entire set list. Watch Rihanna’s performance of Unapologetic cut “Jump” up top, then her introduction to the Diamonds tour below.
