So Snoop Dogg is still Snoop Dogg when he’s on other people’s tracks, but he’s Snoop Lion when he’s doing his new songs, is that how this current arrangement works? Since announcing his whole reggae rebirth, Snoop has still dropped plenty of rap verses, jumping on songs by everyone from 50 Cent to Hot Pockets. So it’s good to see the Doggfather hasn’t been retired altogether, especially after that live taste of the Lion we got on Conan last week.

The latest track Snoop raps on is LL Cool J‘s “We Came to Party,” presumably a new cut off LL’s forthcoming album, now simply titled Authentic and set for an April 30 release. It’s just as bombastic as his Grammys closer “Whaddup,” and thanks to Fatman Scoop‘s bellowing it brings to mind late-90s club rap gems like DMX‘s “Party Up”  or DJ Kool‘s “Let Me Clear My Throat.” Hear it below.
