Snoop Lion’s ‘Reincarnated’: Stream The Full Album

Snoop Lion‘s transformation into a reggae artist becomes official when his album, Reincarnated, drops on April 23. But starting today, you can stream the full album and rush to judgment on his Rasta rebirth. Our first impressions: the message is hopeful and commendable, and the whole thing is pretty cohesive. Snoop’s singing is completely colorless but really isn’t as off-putting as expected (and he does work in a few raps to placate fans of the old Snoop).

What really grabbed us upon first listen, though, was the production, headed by executive producer Diplo. Save for a couple bangers, it’s restrained and never boring; there’s always some spooky guitar clanging or murky bass groove floating in and out of range. Major Lazer‘s Free the Universe showed Diplo is at the top of his party game, but he’s also at the top of his step-out-the-way game, proving songs like  “Climax” and “Jessica” were no fluke. Shrewd move by Snoop to enlist him. Anyway, head over to Myspace to hear Reincarnated for yourself, just in time for 4/20.
