Eve’s ‘Lip Lock’: Preview Her New Album

After having endured a decade of label-fueled drama, under-performing singles and false starts, Eve has released 30-second snippets from her fourth album Lip Lock. And, based on this preview, Lip Lock may shape up to be a smart, modern update to her already-confident songs.

Lip Lock‘s singles thus far, “She Bad Bad” and “Make It Out This Town,” revealed two different sides to Eve — the rap-minded Lioness defending her throne from other female rappers, and the more encouraging, even pop-friendlier mentor, respectively. Based on the preview, Lip Lock tends to alternate back and forth between the two, albeit not as violently as Nicki Minaj did in Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded — and, no matter the vibe or subject matter, Eve doesn’t seem to let up on her flow. (Whew.)

Lip Lock is out May 14 — for now, hear the album preview at Amazon.
