On June 1, Beyonce headlined a charity concert promoting women’s rights, which included an appearance by Jay-Z and a duet by Jennifer Lopez and Mary J. Blige. Throughout, performers reminded the crowd of 50,000 of the evening’s mission — like when Beyonce performed a faithful cover of Sam Cooke‘s 1964 single “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

The Sound of Change concert was spearheaded by Chime For Change, a women’s rights organization co-founded by Beyonce, actress Salma Hayek Pinault and Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini. Fittingly, whether Iggy Azalea was instructing the crowd to “Work” or Lopez called for reinforcements for a cover of the Beatles‘ “Come Together” — “I need a little help, Mary!” — the supporting acts performed songs about empowerment.

As for Beyonce, she reestablished that she’s indeed a “Grown Woman,” by performing the new single and summoning her husband Jay-Z for her first-ever solo single “Crazy in Love.” Check out the performances after the jump.
