That heavy dread in your chest that you felt upon learning that Will.i.am was executive producing Britney Spears‘ upcoming eighth studio album? Let it dissipate. Take a deep breath. There’s great producers involved. Really great ones! English ones. And as history has taught us, English producers are the best kind. (Except for Swedish ones, but it’s neck-and-neck.)

So! Earlier today, Naughty Boy (best known for his excellent work with Emeli Sande, although he’s also helmed tunes for Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole) had a lively little Twitter exchange with William Orbit (best known for his excellent work with Madonna, although he’s also helmed tunes for Pink, All Saints and Sugababes), where they made several not-particularly-subtle references to Spears.

In summary: Not everything is hopeless, and there is still some good left in the world.
