Kanye West’s 2008 ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’-Style HBO Pilot: Watch A (Not Terrible) Clip

Way back in 2008, Kanye West referred to himself as the black Larry David (he has since promoted himself to the black Steve Jobs) and went as far as filming a Curb Your Enthusiasm-style comedy pilot for HBO to prove it. The improv-heavy show ultimately wasn’t picked up by the network, but now a four-minute clip of the unreleased pilot has been making the Web rounds, and you can watch it up top.

OK so we were expecting the worst when we hit play, but it’s not terrible! We already know he’s a funny dude (his song “I Am A God” has an official feature from God, after all), but it turns out Ye’s acting has only gotten worse as he has become more famous. Here, Kanye’s not as stiff and awkward as he was in that “Runaway” short film, or even in his Keeping Up With The Kardashians cameo.

The weirdest aspect, though, is that West made this goofy show right around the same time he was creating the weepy 808s & Heartbreak.
