Lady Gaga Teases “Applause” Photo: Is That Her Next Single Title?

It’s been a bumpy ride for Lady Gaga over the last year, but hark! Hope is on the horizon. After announcing details of her upcoming ARTPOP album, which will be distributed via a little JavaScript code that people can plug into their Geocities pages to play a little bloopy-bloop MIDI sound (just kidding, it’s going to be part of an app or whatever), there’s now news about the likely first single.

In a photo posted to her official site, LittleMonsters, by Gaga’s makeup artist Tara Savelo, captioned “26 days” (which is when the first single is about to drop), Gaga can be seen with paint and an easel working on what appears to be single artwork — text reading “APPLAUSE” is clearly visible. (Some people are saying it’s called “The Applause,” or maybe it’s called simply “Applause,” but either way, it’s an accolade-y title.)

Not much else to say beyond that. I mean — I like the red typeface? Sans serif is a cool choice? I can’t wait to see what’s under her hand? Let’s just take it from there, guys. It’s a good start.
