Kanye West Announces First Solo Tour In 5 Years, Kendrick Lamar To Open: See The Dates
Kanye West is heading on his first all-out solo tour since 2008’s Glow In The Dark tour. In support of this year’s polarizing, abrasive Yeezus, West will do 23 arena dates in the US and Canada, including stops at Staples Center in L.A., shows at both New York City arenas and a gig at United Center in his hometown of Chicago. The trek starts October 19 in Seattle and wraps up December 7 in Houston. Kendrick Lamar will be the opener for most of the shows, and for five shows Kanye will be joined by an unannounced “special guest.” Tickets go on sale September 13.
Most recently, West toured extensively with Jay Z for Watch The Throne in 2011-12, but he never toured behind 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. He has performed a few one-off shows in the US (namely, Governors Ball and Drake‘s OVO Festival) and Europe in recent months, so the tour announcement is surprising enough considering his selective spotlight behavior, and as Consequence of Sound mentions, it’s made more surprising by the fact that he’s a new father.
All of those factors should add up to quite the spectacle. Head below to see the full poster and list of dates.
