Azealia Banks Posts ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ Tracklist, Invites Skepticism

Pugnacious rapstress Azealia Banks, whose ascent to notoriety has been characterized more by her seemingly effortless ability to pick fights with literally everyone than by making good use of her precocious talent and creativity, has finally unveiled the tracklist for her much-much-delayed debut LP Broke With Expensive Taste. (The title, which was announced at the height of her success, now feels prescient in the very worst way.)

But hey, let’s give her the benefit of the doubt, assume that this album will actually come out, and take a look at the tracklist, which was hand-written on some notebook paper with a tentative release date of 2014 scrawled on the top (auspicious, to be sure). While Lady Gaga is nowhere to be found (surprise!), there are a few guest spots, from Theophilus London on a track called “JFK,” Kevin Hussein on “In Town” and Toko Yasuda on “Gimme a Chance.”

That said, she’s taking an unusual approach to her promotional strategy.

K?

Good luck Azealia Banks, good luck Interscope Records, and good luck America.
