Nurse’s Boss Sends Thank You Note To Her Husband After She Worked Countless Overtime Hours
Asking your employees to work overtime is one thing. But when employees are mandated to work overtime because of uncertain times, it's nice to give them a proper thank-you for all their hard work. In this case, the employer did express their appreciation, but the way they went about it had the internet fuming.
Keep reading to find out how one boss fumbled this thank you.
Overtime Compensation
How would you like to be shown appreciation for working overtime? Obviously, we're all going to say, "with proper monetary compensation."
But some bosses don't like to do that, opting for a simple thanks or gift card.
The Thank-You Card
Well, this nurse took to Reddit to show that her boss thanked her over time with a simple thank-you card.
But the thank-you card wasn't addressed to her; it was actually addressed to her husband.
Sharing His Wife
The note read, "Thank you for sharing your wife."
It continued, "As she has been mandated to work several times over the past few months. We recognize that this took her away from her family."
Her Boss Thought This Was Good Enough
The note reads, "Please know, we appreciate and thank you for sharing when we desperately needed her."
Her boss thought this was enough of a thank-you for all the overtime she had done. She had other thoughts.
Nurses Have Had It Rough
For the nurse, "mandatory overtime is supposed to be heavily fined." But unfortunately, it was suspended because of COVID.
And she did not seem impressed that the thank-you card was addressed to her husband for sharing his wife.
Send The Thank You To Your Employee, Not Their Partner
Now, the boss had a good intention and was simply trying to say thank you to the nurse's family for going through this hard time and seeing less of their wife and mom.
But it definitely doesn't come across as sincere.
This Is When Employees Start Looking For Better Jobs
Because if this thank-you was sincere, then the nurse would be compensated properly for all of their overtime.
This nurse and others were taking time away from their families to work for nothing. And that's when employees begin to hate their jobs.
Nurses Deserve Better
And to be honest, most of the world has lifted a lot of their COVID mandates, so why are nurses still getting mandated overtime with no compensation?
Yes, COVID is still out there, it didn't simply "go away," but the Nurses should definitely be compensated properly.
Redditors Comments
Many Redditors took to the post sharing their stories and what they do when they find themselves in that situation.
Others said that if they weren't compensated properly, they'd leave.
"There Are Other Ways To Show Appreciation"
This story is a prime example of why "the Great Resignation" is continuing.
Times are tough, everything is expensive, and employees are not paid enough and feel unappreciated at their jobs.
