If You Grew Up In The ’90s, Then There’s A Good Chance You Owned These Classic Toys
We bet that if you were a kid in the 1990s, you probably had at least a few of the toys on this list. If you didn't have them, then you probably begged your parents to get them for you. Which one of these iconic '90s playthings did you love the most?
There are some toys on this list that we forgot about completely until we saw these photos. Remember that Playskool flashlight with red and green filters that everyone seemed to have? Keep reading to see that toy and so much more.
Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was one of the most sought-after gaming systems of the 1990s.
If you found one of these consoles under your Christmas tree, you knew you were going to have a good year.
The Playskool Flashlight
We thought it was so cool when the light turned from yellow to green to red. We had never seen colored light before, and when we could make it happen ourselves, it was like a magic trick.
The Original Slime
We're pretty sure that Gak walked so that slime could run. Nickelodeon was all about slime back in the '90s. When the commercial for Gak came on, we paid attention.
Sky Dancers
These Sky Dancers weren't ordinary dolls. They flew across the sky when you pulled a string located in the cloud base they were standing on. Did one of these ever crash land into your head?
The Yoyo Ball
Move aside, regular yo-yos. Those things are stuck in the '70s. The Yoyo Ball is the toy of the future—or at least it was the toy of the future in the '90s.
These Plastic Swords
Remember these plastic swords? They were easily bendable, they came with a matching plastic sheath, and we played with them all day long. If someone hit you hard enough with one of these, it actually kind of hurt.
The Hot Wheels Power Loop
We saw the commercial for this Hot Wheels Power Loop so many times, and after a while, it started to look pretty cool. Who doesn't want to see a toy car get flipped upside-down?
This T-Rex With A Chunk Bitten Out Of It
If you didn't have this dinosaur, we bet you had a friend who did. These things were super popular in the '90s. There was something kids loved about that removable dinosaur chunk.
The Bumble Ball
This Bumble Ball toy kind of looks like the everlasting gobstoppers from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. These balls had a motor in them so they would vibrate and bounce around.
The Ultimate Super Soaker
Water guns were all fine and dandy, but unless you had a Super Soaker, there was no chance you were going to win the water fight. Unless, of course, you just grabbed the hose (which doesn't need to be pumped or refilled).
Themed Ninja Turtles
So many people had these Ninja Turtle figurines which were dressed up to match certain themes. This turtle is a surfer dude for some reason. Maybe because he's from California.
Playmobile Figurines
Remember these Playmobile figurines? These were the kinds of toys you'd only really play with at your rich cousin's house in their very nice basement. Were you the kind of kid who always wanted to be the dog?
Mini Disney Princesses
These mini Disney princess dolls were actually pretty magical. Their hair always got kind of poofy and weird, though. They weren't the best quality toys, but we still loved them.
All The Different Batman Figurines
There were so many different batman figurines that were based on all of the different Batman movies and cartoons. Which version of Batman was your absolute favorite? These were action figures, of course—not dolls.
13 Dead End Drive
This was a pretty grim board game to market to children. It involved the murder of a wealthy old woman and you had to play to weasel other players out of her estate.
These Clackers
These clackers were everywhere in the '90s and we're not really sure why. They didn't do much except make a really annoying sound that would drive parents crazy. We're kind of glad these aren't around anymore.
Tiger Electronic Handheld Games
Before the Game Boy ever existed, there were these Tiger Electronic handheld games. The screen was super dark, so you had to squint to see the action, but we thought these were so technologically advanced.
Don't Wake Daddy
Don't Wake Daddy was the board game that would make you jump out of our seat. You never wanted to be the one to make that guy pop out of bed.
Magic Diaper Babies
The Magic Diaper Baby PVC figurines were actually pretty creepy now that we're looking at them as adults. Why didn't we realize how creepy they were when we were kids?
Puppy Surprise
Toy companies turned live animal birth into a fun gimmick with Puppy Surprise. You never knew which puppies were going to come out of the bigger mother dog. You also never knew how many puppies you were going to get.
Littlest Pet Shop
Littlest Pet Shop was the cutest line of toys ever. The set pictured above was a little veterinary office that came with an X-ray and a scale. Littlest Pet Shop still exists, but the toys aren't nearly as cute anymore.
Surf Runner
Remember the SurfRunner? These things were wind-up bath toys that made bathtime so much more fun. In the summer, we would use them in outdoor swimming pools. These were the greatest.
The Fashion Designer Barbie Computer Game
This Barbie Fashion Designer game was so much fun. Remember how the loading screen counted down with high-heeled pink Barbie shoes in the shape of numbers? You could also print out your designs when you were done.
The McDonald's Play-Doh Set
This Play-Doh set let you make your own Play-Doh burgers and fries. These Happy Meals were not at all edible, but that didn't stop some of us from trying to eat them.
This Classic Velcro Ball Game
Were you even a kid in the '90s if you didn't play a game of velcro catch with paddles and balls just like these? These were the definition of toys in the '90s.
K'nex
K'nex were kind of like Lego for kids who grew up to be engineers. If you had K'nex growing up, you probably work in tech now. The K'nex kids were a bit more hardcore than the Lego kids.
Mini Disney VHS Tapes
Remember when McDonald's Happy Meals came with these mini VHS cases? They were super cute, but they didn't really do anything. There is no VCR in the world that can play tapes this tiny.
Crossfire
The commercial for this particular game got us so hyped up that we begged our parents for Crossfire every Christmas. Did the game live up to the hype for you?
Golden Sound Stories
How many of these books did you have when you were a kid? The characters never really sounded like they did in the movies, and when the battery started to die, they started sounding really creepy.
These Finger Puppets
Why did everyone have these finger puppets in the '90s? Why did we all think these were cool enough to buy and have in our homes? They're kind of weird-looking and they don't really do anything.
