It’s been a long tournament, but Idolator’s Summer Jam Of 2008 has finally been decided, and the winner is “Coconut Juice,” the Harry Nilsson-inspired party jam by Tyga that consistently crushed its competition. Estelle’s lighter-than-air “American Boy” put up a good fight in the final–the split was 53.5% “Coconut Juice,” 46.5% “American Boy”–but people just love singing about drinking in the summertime, I guess. hahahahahahahaha who the hell are these voters? Would Soulja Boy (or J-Kwon) have won this tournament if his song had been released at this time? It’s possible that this song just pulled it off in the last round due to estelle/kanye hate, but then that’s a pretty weak mandate for a summer jam.
oh well. I do kinda want do drink from a coconut now, so I guess the song works.
